Be sure to check out my new article on "The Disappearing Edge" on my employer's blog. It is based on the idea that consolidation via hypervisors has generally moved what was considered edge servers (file/print, web, etc) from the edge. Losing one of these servers in the past would not cause too much pain to the business, but what if the host goes down? Please take some time to read my article and let me know what you think!

After what seems like forever, I will be starting to post in my personal blog here as well as my new employers (Egenera) blog (http://blog.egenera.com). I hope to bring even more to the table as in my new role I will be working with many different virtualization technologies including the main players like VMware, Xen, and Hyper-V.
I know I have probably lost some readers during my absence, but hope to win them back as we get this thing rolling again. So here we go again!
Due to my new job with Egenera I am holding off on writing articles for a few weeks. This is until I am able to meet with the legal department and make sure what I can and can not write about as well as avoiding conflict of interest issues. I will continue to re-post article snip-its and news until this is resolved. Thanks for bearing with me!!
VMware has announced that Stage Manager is now available. This product gives you the ability to "stage" you applications. The are positioning this as a way to visualize the entire process of bringing a new application online and what will be needed to do this. The main problem I have with this is that it means you may have to VMware application competing with each other in Stage Manager and Life Cycle Manager. We will have to see how they position the two separately.

Well it seems to be a trend for some of us Virtualization bloggers here lately! I have recently accepted a new job with Egenera as a Sales Engineer. I am very excited about this move as I truly enjoy virtualization and the Egenera product line is something that is truly inline with the future of virtualization!
